West Lancashire Debt Advice is a free face to face debt advice service set up by churches in West Lancashire and run from the hall at Emmanuel Methodist Untied Reformed Church, Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DE. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

We opened in April 2013 and are affiliated to the national debt advice charity, Community Money Advice, which has a network of over 100 debt advice centres around the UK. For more information about CMA please visit www.communitymoneyadvice.com

Our trained volunteers provide confidential advice and practical support. We work with clients to help resolve debt issues and set up affordable repayment plans. Once we have details of a client’s circumstances, we can discuss with them the possible options and agree a way forward, dealing with creditors on their behalf. Making that first call or visit to us, however difficult their situation, will reassure them that support is available and debts can be dealt with.

We are currently funded by grants we receive, donations from churches in West Lancashire and donations from the kind residents of West Lancashire. We have also previously been awarded funds from the Lancashire County Council Local Member Grants scheme.

We would like to help more residents and run more sessions, other sessions would include sessions to help struggling residents with their benefits which can be complicated.

We currently help residents from West Lancashire but have helped people from Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens. We would never turn anyone away.

We support people from all walks of life, people of all ages, backgrounds, circumstances. We have helped people with mental health issues. We often signpost people to other organisations who may help with other issues they may have.
